Sihl GmbH was awarded a silver medal in the EcoVadis CSR rating for the second time in July 2018. EcoVadis has set itself the goal of improving environmental and social practices through the systematic use of global supply chains. The silver medal is confirmation of the importance that Sihl attaches to social responsibility, with sustainability being a central pillar of its corporate strategy and an important success factor.
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is about how companies engage in sustainable business. The CSR rating is based on 21 criteria which are grouped under the four themes of the environment, labour conditions and human rights, fair business practices and sustainable procurement. The evaluation methodology draws on international CSR standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact and ISO 26000.
Sihl GmbH was assessed with regard to the aspects above for the CSR rating process, scored well once again and finished among the top 17 per cent of all the companies that participated. This recognition confirms that CSR initiatives such as improved resource consumption, workplace safety, vocational training and qualification opportunities, the responsible use of products and social commitment are all integral parts of Sihl’s business activities.
The rating agency EcoVadis based in Paris, France, operates the first platform that allows companies to analyse and assess the performance of their business partners across 150 sectors and in 110 countries. More information: www.ecovadis.com.
